On 11/Sep/2023 in Austin, TX at the Permissionless II conference, Erik Voorhees opened the conference with a speech that will likely be considered one of the most important for the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency industry since Satoshi Nakamoto’s release of the Bitcoin Whitepaper (PDF). I’ve enjoyed a number of talks and interviews from Erik and will continue to follow his work.
One of the things I like most about Erik, unlike a lot of other people in this space, is that he presents the core value of Cryptocurrency to be Living a Permissionless life! A life free from asking governments and corporations permission to buy, sell, trade and, honestly, live. One of the key points he makes is that Blockchain technology and Cryptocurrencies will give “We The People” the power once again to control our own lives and get back the USA’s founding principles. The more “We The People” move toward this technology, the less control the government and crony capitalist will have. The ideal of the founding of the USA was that the individual should have sovereignty over themselves, their fortunes and their fate. Erik articulates this point quite well.
Watch the speech, I hope you will be as inspired as I was… well, still am actually.
